The Hope Chest
Other Programs
The Howard University Cancer Center Food Pantry is a unique endeavor that provides much needed support to cancer patients and those affected by food insecurity. We are able to serve our community thanks to the generous donations of our supporters, volunteers, and partners.
The Hope Chest offers a variety of fresh and shelf stable food, household supplies, and personal care items. This program helps patients and their families stretch their food budgets. This is a small way to alleviate some everyday costs burdens so that patients can focus on getting through their treatments.
The Hope Chest is supported by generous donors.
Accepted items include:
- Canned vegetables, tuna, salmon
- Shelf stable pantry items such as pasta, cereals, etc.
- Toiletries, personal care supplies, cleaning supplies, and detergents
- Fresh foods are accepted on a limited basis as refrigerated space permits
- Store and gas gift cards are great options to help patients with personalized needs. The optimal gift card amount is $25.00 per card.
